EzWay™ RI Reagent is a ready-to-use single reagent for the isolation of total RNA from diverse biological samples including cells and tissues of human, animal, bacteria, virus, yeast and plant.Following homogenization of a sample in EzWay™ RI Reagent, the solution is separated into aqueous and organic phase by addition of chloroform. RNA remains in the aqueous phase, whereas DNA and proteins are isolated in the inter-phase and in the organic phase respectively.
The performance range of EzWay™ RI Reagent is broad (tissue: 50 mg - 1 g, cultured cell:
5x106 - 107) and the entire isolation procedure is completed in 1 hour. The isolated RNA can be used for hybridization assays such as Northern blot and dot blot, in vitro translation, PCR or molecular cloning.
The electrophoresis of the RNA isolated using EzWay™ RI Reagent shows small molecular weight (0.1-0.3 kb, 5S), high molecular weight (7-15 kb) and two predominant ribosomal RNA bands (28S & 18S), and the 28S/18S ribosomal RNA ratio can be within the range of 1.8 to 2.3 after electrophoresis and staining with EtBr. The A260/A280 ratio indicates the purity of isolated RNA, and it is measured > 1.8. The potential yield of RNA varies depending on the source.
